Pear Dessert Contest

The Kelseyville Pear Festival’s Annual Pear Dessert Contest will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012. Experienced cooks and beginners alike are encouraged to enter their favorite pear dessert.

The desserts entered in the contest must be ready to eat and may contain any variety of pears. The entries must be accompanied with a legible copy of the recipe that includes the name of the dessert and the entrant including a contact phone number. The pears may be fresh, canned, frozen or dried. The entries must be in a disposable container.

To be considered in the judging, desserts must be delivered to the Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, Friendship Hall, between 11:00 a.m. and noon on Friday, September 28, 2012. Judging will follow at 2:00 pm. Click here for application (PDF).

All recipes become the property of the Kelseyville Business Association and the Pear Festival Committee for future publication and promotion.

Pear Prince and Princess

A Pear Prince and Pear Princess of the Kelseyville Pear Festival is chosen every year from the Kelseyville School system. Students in the Fourth and Fifth grades are encouraged to write essays on WHY ARE PEARS IMPORTANT. Essays are judged by retired school teachers. The winning boy and girl become the Prince and Princess. Essay contest winners are awarded a $100.00 savings bond from the Kelseyville branch of WestAmerica Bank. See them in the parade.

Poster Contest

Local artists are encouraged to submit artwork that captures the spirit of the Kelseyville Pear Festival and/or Kelseyville's pear heritage.

Rules to Enter the Poster Contest
One entry per person will be accepted. All entries must be 12X18, matted and framed. The artist's name and telephone number must be attached to the back of each entry. The Kelseyville Pear Festival has the sole right to make and sell poster of the First Prize winning entry until after December 31, 2012.
